Lighting Auditing Fundamentals and Application

About this Online Webinar

Not only are good lighting audits required for today’s advanced lighting retrofit projects, they can also be very important for retrofit-commissioning, zero net energy applications, and energy use intensity studies. This webinar is a guide to the best approach for conducting an audit, when to conduct an audit, and how to gather existing information. It provides a Microsoft® Excel® tool for your use and important tips on what assets to use during an audit, such as tablets, GPS capable lighting, data loggers, etc.

The different types of lighting audits—and ideal times within the process for audits to be performed—will be discussed. How to record data onsite will be discussed, along with some of the new electronic assets now available, including exterior lighting fixture GPS addresses.

The purpose of this program is to guide participants on the best approaches to harvesting necessary existing information for lighting projects. It does not include recommendations for a lighting retrofit or other type of project. Many auditors only gather and record existing information, and then pass that information on to specifiers. Others provide both the audit and specific recommendations.

The instructor will discuss the value for auditors both to become more efficient at the audit process, and to gather additional detailed information when applicable, including watts per square foot, locations of spectrally enhanced lighting and melanopic lighting, and observed areas that really deserve better lighting. This seminar also provides a good foundation for those who may benefit from other AEE webinars covering lighting retrofits, human-centric lighting, lighting controls and smart lighting.
