Presented online in a series of four live two-hour time modules, this seminar is designed to provide you with a fundamental understanding of the operation of commercial HVAC systems, and practical ways to improve their energy efficiency.
You can participate in the seminar from your office, home, or anywhere you have access to the internet and a phone. You'll have opportunities to interact with your instructor and colleagues in realtime during the four live teleconferencing sessions, as well as in the time between sessions.
About the Seminar
This course covers the basics of commercial air conditioning and heating equipment, giving you the background you need to understand more fully how these systems operate. You'll find out both how to recognize, and how to evaluate HVAC energy efficiency improvement opportunities. Topics covered include system basics, heat flow, load estimating, vapor compression cycles, system efficiencies, air conditioning equipment overview, heating equipment overview, heat pumps, energy conservation opportunities, and assessment of economics and savings.

Your Realtime Program Instructor
TERRY NIEHUS, P.E., C.E.M., is the founder of Lakeshore Consulting, a firm specializing in technical training and energy auditing. His clients have included numerous electric and gas utilities, the Army National Guard, the Corps of Engineers, and hundreds of commercial and industrial businesses. Mr. Niehus has extensive experience as a trainer, having taught courses including commercial building energy system, motors and drives, HVAC, compressed air, cogeneration and thermal energy storage. He has also authored training and technical resource manuals in areas related to his training programs. As a consultant, he has performed over 1,000 energy analyses for governmental, commercial and industrial facilities. He is well-versed in both life cycle cost analysis and use of building simulation programs.
Course Materials and Advance Preparations
The seminar fee covers registration for all four two-hour program modules, seminar workbook (downloadable PDF format), course certificate, and teleconferencing services, including domestic phone charges. (International calls will have non-tollfree access.) Payment in full must be received prior to the start date of the seminar.
You will receive instructions, personal support, and a chance to test your teleconferencing connection in advance of the first session.
Enrollment in this realtime online seminar will be limited to 40 participants to ensure that each student has ample opportunity for interaction with instructors and other participants.
