Presented online in a series of four 2-hour time modules, this seminar covers the fundamentals of today's basic energy efficiency practices, which when applied can effectively achieve the goal of reduced energy consumption. The course is also designed to provide the specific training and background needed by those preparing to sit for AEE's Energy Efficiency Practitioner (EEP) certification exam.
You can participate in the seminar from your office, home, or anywhere you have access to the internet and a phone or VOIP. You'll have opportunities to interact with your instructor and colleagues in real time during the four live teleconferencing sessions.
Accomplishing maximum energy cost savings within an organization is most often a team effort involving individuals with varied backgrounds, responsibilities and levels of expertise in energy management methodologies and strategies. This instructional program is designed to help educate those who work in the energy management field on best practices for improving energy efficiency. Attendees will learn technical and organizational strategies, including energy management basics, various building systems considerations and terminology, simple payback, energy measurement.
The seminar is designed to serve as a preparatory training vehicle for the examination required to be completed by those interested in obtaining AEE's new Energy Efficiency Practitioner (EEP) professional certification; however the seminar is also open to those who simply wish to benefit from the training provided, and do not wish to sit for the exam following the seminar.
By obtaining the EEP certification, participants will gain industry and peer recognition by demonstrating their understating of technical and operational energy management principles. The certification also serves as a fundamental building block leading to additional individual professional development such as obtaining the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or the Business Energy Professional (BEP) designation.

SCOTT DUNNING, Ph.D., P.E., C.E.M., is a professor and director of the University of Maine School of Engineering Technology. As founding director of the university's Industrial Assessment Center, he has led over 200 industrial assessments of facilities throughout New England. He currently performs commercial audits for the Efficiency Maine Trust. Dr. Dunning is recognized as a national expert in energy efficiency, and has lectured and written widely in the field. He is a senior member of IEEE, a commissioner for the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc., and past chair of the Engineering Technology Division of the American Society of Engineering Education.
