MARVIN T. HOWELL is a former senior energy and solar consultant with SkyPower Energy Corporation in Arlington, Texas. As a contracted senior environmental associate with Analytical Services Inc. for eight years, Mr. Howell implemented environmental management systems at eight U.S. DEA facilities, including labs, division offices, an intelligence center and an air operations center. In this capacity, he was instrumental in planning and designing several energy management initiatives that resulted in significant energy cost saving improvements throughout the DEA facilities. Previously Mr. Howell was manager of distribution planning and reliability for Florida Power and Light, and also served as a Lt. Colonel in Air Force civil engineering, where he was involved in energy reduction efforts, reliability centered maintenance, project management, construction and maintenance management, efficiency and productivity improvements. He holds a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Mississippi State University and a masters in industrial engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. In 2014 he authored the book, Effective Implementation of ISO 50001 Energy Management System, published by ASQ Quality Press.
Presented online in a series of two live 2 hour time modules, the aim of this seminar is to serve as a guide for successfully developing and then implementing a sustainability "plan of action" for virtually any type of organization, business or facility -- or for putting in place meaningful improvements to an existing sustainability program.

You can participate in the seminar from your office, home, or anywhere you have access to the internet and a phone or VOIP. You'll have opportunities to interact with your instructor and colleagues in real time during the two live, interactive online sessions.

Here's your opportunity to gain a valuable expert information and tools to guide you in implementing sustainability throughout your organization, or to improve your existing sustainability program if it's already been implemented.

The instructor will set out clearly defined sustainability development and sustainability in action models, taking into account three critical components for success — strategic commitment, project management and inclusion of everyday activities which support sustainability implementation and maintenance. A flow of development and implementation steps will be demonstrated to make the process more understandable.

You'll learn the best approaches to opimize the efficiency of the overall sustainability implementation or improvement process, along with key results indicators useful to assess each component of the program, enabling you to see and demonstrate progress toward goals and actual results achieved. The importance and key elements of effective project management will also be examined.

A "pathway to sustainability" checklist will also be outlined which can be used to identify areas in which greater sustainability is possible within your organization, or ways in which your existing sustainability program can be improved.
