Presented online in a series of six live two-hour time modules, this seminar is designed to provide the specific training and background needed by professionals preparing to sit for AEE's Certified Residential Energy Auditor (REA) exam. The course agenda also includes updates on topics of current importance to all individuals involved in performing residential energy audits.

You can participate in the seminar from your office, home, or anywhere you have access to the internet and a phone. You'll have opportunities to interact with your instructor and colleagues in real time during the six live teleconferencing sessions.

ABOUT THE SEMINAR
Become a certified Residential Energy Auditor (REA).
Here's your opportunity to take part in a focused, fast-paced instructional program, designed both to expand your knowledge in the field, and to serve as a preparatory vehicle for the examination required to achieve AEE's Residential Energy Auditor (REA) certification. Completion of this seminar also fills the training requirement for REA candidates. (Optionally, you may also consider taking the 3 day Fundamentals of Residential Energy Auditing live course, offered at several locations throughout the U.S. each year.)

The online Certified Energy Auditor Preparatory Training Program covers all of the basic information included in the live course, but is presented in a condensed, faster paced format, providing you with the fundamental knowledge and understanding required to conduct an effective residential energy audit. The course explores all major aspects of home energy use, residential energy systems and technologies, energy conservation measures (ECMs), energy auditing methodology and calculations, and diagnostic and software tools. Topics include:

  • Utility bill analysis
  • Basic energy and heat transfer principles
  • Building envelope assessment
  • HVAC energy conservation measures
  • Water heating system evaluation
  • Efficient home lighting
  • Appliances and Energy Star
  • Home energy ratings and LEED
  • Basic financial calculations and tax credits

About REA Certification. The requirements to qualify for the certification process have been designed to take into account the possible diversity of education and practical experience an individual may have. Each applicant for REA professional certification must attend one of AEE's approved training courses (either the online or live seminar program) and complete and pass a four-hour written exam, as well as meet specific educational and professional criteria. (Note that the seminar fee does not include the certification application/testing fee.) For more about REA certification, testing and application fees, Click Here.
