6 Hours of Instruction: Earns 0.6 CEU / 6 PDH
Now accepting registrations for program beginning April 6, 2010
Presented online in a series of three live two-hour time modules, this seminar covers all aspects of creating and implementing a successful, cost-reducing energy management program for any size or type of organization.

You can participate in the seminar from your office, home, or anywhere you have access to the internet and a phone. You'll have opportunities to interact with your instructor and colleagues in real time during the three live teleconferencing sessions.

ABOUT THE SEMINAR
As we face energy price hikes after the 'promises' of deregulation, as well as the new reality of unexpected outages such as the 2003 Northeast blackout, we all want to know what we can do to make our operations less vulnerable to energy-related problems in the future. There are many methods that can be deployed to address these concerns, but the best approach remains making all energy use more efficient by fully integrating the energy management function into overall operations.

This seminar will take you step by step through the process of developing an energy management program -- or more broadly, an Energy Master Plan (EMP) -- to achieve more efficient energy consumption and lower total operating costs. The instructor will show you how to incorporate longer range planning of energy cost reduction and control, and develop a fully integrated energy management program which moves beyond the confines of traditional engineering to include:

  • energy procurement
  • energy-related equipment purchasing
  • M&V, staffing and training
  • communications
  • setting energy consumption targets
  • tracking/feedback loop systems

The Energy Master Planning process calls for a long-term perspective that is more than simply cutting last year's energy use. Rather than seeing energy as a line item expense in the budget, it makes energy awareness part of the everyday operation and "mindset" of the organization.

This approach can be equally valuable, both to large, multi-facility organizations, as well as to small, single-owner operations with just a few employees. The effort and level of detail will vary respectively, but the approach is basically the same. This information-packed seminar will walk you through the 5 steps necessary to establish and carry out a successful EMP in any organization. You will learn by examining case studies of other companies, and find the approach that works best for your own operational setting.

This course is designed to provide energy managers, senior corporate management, engineers, plant managers, and those who service the energy needs of an organization with the tools to design and implement a successful EMP and cut the impact of energy costs on their bottom line.
