This course has been approved by AIA for continuing education credits. The AIA requires that its registered architect members earn 18 Learning Unit (LU) hours of continuing education credit annually (eight hours of which must be related to Health, Safety, and Welfare topics and four of those eight in Sustainable Design) to remain in good standing. Architectural boards in 40 states, 10 Canadian Provinces, and 19 countries have implemented mandatory continuing education (MCE) for re-licensure.

The Association of Energy Engineers is an approved training provider within the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education Systems (CES) Registered Provider program.

This seminar is specifically designed for plant engineers, maintenance engineers, technicians, facilities managers and other facility professionals who would like to gain an understanding of the basic principles of electricity in a simple, easy to grasp format. As an attendee you will learn how to perform straightforward and common calculations associated with voltage, current, power and power factor. The instructor will also present valuable charts and tables which you can utilize as alternate method for estimating current, voltage and power. Practical examples of electrical applications in industrial settings will be used to demonstrate the topics and procedures covered. Specific topics will include:

  • Principles of electricity, AC and DC
  • Electrical code and safety
  • Electrical equipment and instrumentation in industrial applications
  • Electrical control systems
  • Electrical drawings and documentation
