This course has been approved by AIA for continuing education credits. The AIA requires that its registered architect members earn 18 Learning Unit (LU) hours of continuing education credit annually (eight hours of which must be related to Health, Safety, and Welfare topics and four of those eight in Sustainable Design) to remain in good standing. Architectural boards in 40 states, 10 Canadian Provinces, and 19 countries have implemented mandatory continuing education (MCE) for re-licensure.

KEVIN VIDMAR currently serves as Vice President of Energy Services for Loureiro Engineering Associates, a full service environmental, remediation, health, safety, energy, building systems, design, installation, and construction firm with offices in Connecticut, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Mr. Vidmar has more than 25 years of industrial experience, and has worked with over 200 manufacturing sites worldwide for the purpose of optimizing their energy reduction opportunities, including the use of Behavioral Energy Change, energy reduction through Six Sigma and Kaizen programs, as well as the more typical conservation and efficiency improvement strategies. Mr. Vidmar holds a B.S. from Miami University, and an M.S. from Vanderbilt University in Environmental and Water Resource Engineering. He is a Certified Energy Manager, a Certified Energy Auditor, and a Certified Carbon Reduction Manager.

Presented online in a series of two live 2-hour time modules, this seminar is designed to provide you with a clear understanding of how to properly use portable data loggers and devices for identifying and quantifying energy reduction opportunities.

You can participate in the seminar from your office, home, or anywhere you have access to the internet and a phone or VOIP. You'll have opportunities to interact with your instructor and colleagues in real time during the two live, interactive online sessions.

ABOUT THE SEMINAR

Energy auditing typically includes gathering energy use data, often through use of data loggers and other data gathering equipment. Data loggers come in many different types, shapes, sizes, and capabilities. As a result of all the new advances within electronics, energy systems data logging is becoming more the norm than the exception within manufacturing and commercial energy auditing. For example, a typical/possible first step to permanent data logging is the use of portable data loggers, as the portable logging step often defines where and when permanent logging might be needed, where it make good sense, or even where it is required as part of a measurement and verification protocol.

This seminar will discuss the various types of energy data gathering devices and data loggers, including power (KW), energy (KWH), state, lighting, temperature, HVAC, CO2, compressed air, steam, plug load, flow and other important data logging systems. The instructor will review how and where to use the various types for optimum results, and clarify important application aspects and limitations. The underlying principles covered will apply both to portable data gathering/logging, as well as to semi-permanent, and permanent applications.

You will leave this session with a much clearer understanding of all energy data loggers, how to use the obtain and analyze the data from these devices, their costs and applications, and how you might best apply these within your energy auditing and energy reduction projects.
