ABOUT THE SEMINAR

AIA Learning Units Eligible

This course has been approved by AIA for continuing education credits. The Association of Energy Engineers is now an approved training provider within the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education Systems (CES) Registered Provider program. The AIA requires that its registered architect members earn 18 Learning Unit (LU) hours of continuing education credit annually (eight hours of which must be related to Health, Safety, and Welfare topics and four of those eight in Sustainable Design) to remain in good standing. Architectural boards in 40 states, 10 Canadian Provinces, and 19 countries have implemented mandatory continuing education (MCE) for re-licensure.

Become a Certified Sustainable Development Professional (CSDP). Successful sustainable development involves a comprehensive understanding of policy and issues as well as a balanced understanding of technical and financial realities. For the first time all of these elements have been condensed into an intensive online seminar.

Here's your opportunity to take part in a focused, fast-paced instructional program, designed both to expand your knowledge in the field, and to serve as a preparatory vehicle for the examination required to achieve AEE's Certified Sustainable Development Professional (CSDP) certification. (Optionally, you may also consider taking the 2 day Fundamentals of Sustainable Development & Carbon Reduction live course, offered at several locations throughout the U.S. each year.)

Emphasis is placed on understanding how the many diverse elements of “green” design, and sustainable technologies and related cost implications, can truly result in a well defined and manageable sustainable development plan. This course is intended for professionals whose roles include supervising and managing sustainable programs, as well as energy
and design professionals. Critical elements of your responsibilities may include such areas as:

  • Municipal, institutional sustainability program development
  • Corporate and industrial sustainability development
  • Managing building or campus infrastructure(s)
  • Integrating energy and sustainability programs
  • "Green" procurement
  • Sustainability program financing, including alternative financing
  • Marketing green and/or sustainable products/programs/services

About CSDP Certification. The requirements to qualify for the certification process have been designed to take into account the possible diversity of education and practical experience an individual may have. Each applicant for CSDP professional certification must attend AEE’s “Fundamentals of Sustainable Development and Carbon Reduction” training seminar (either the online or live seminar program) and complete and pass a four-hour written exam, as well as meet specific educational and professional criteria. This seminar program covers the full scope of subjects which are addressed on the CSDP examination. (Note that the seminar fee does not include the $200 certification application fee.)
